Below you can see the Green candidates standing for election in your area.

Bagshot, Windlesham and Chobham – Andrew Willgoss

Andrew Willgoss

Andrew lives in Bagshot where he runs a gardening business. He tirelessly campaigns to get a better deal for Bagshot, which has consistently been neglected over the years compared to all others places in the area. He is determined to save the last green spaces in the parish from development and end the use of the village as a rat-run for passing traffic.

Above all, elect him to the Council and he will be your watchdog, scrutineer, whistle-blower and champion on any issues that threaten the well-being of the community in favour of developers or other vested interests.

Frimley Green Deepcut and Mytchett – Peter Barnett

Peter Barnett

We have a very different vision. We believe that a healthy environment and sound public services are essential to our well-being. A local economy that works for all, providing decent jobs for residents, with independent shops and businesses prospering on our high streets, not forced out by high business rates, corporate chains and grid-locked roads. Transport that’s safe, clean, affordable and accessible for all, and real provision for cycling and walking To promote reduction and reuse ahead of recycling, and scrap charges on DIY waste that’s encouraging fly tipping.

The key difference between our program and that of all the other parties is that ours is truly sustainable. It does not slowly destroy our surroundings and consume finite resources, but leaves behind a decent place for future generations to enjoy. Our parish, borough and country councils have been dominated by one party for so long they take your support for granted and a lack of opposition leaves no-one to hold them to account. To re-elect them again is to send them a message that you are quite satisfied with what they are doing.

Having more Greens on Surrey County Council will make a real difference. Vote for positive change.

Heatherside and Parkside – Yvonne Greenwood

Yvonne Greenwood

Married with two children. I am standing for council as I am passionate about local politics because local issues can have greatest direct impact on people's lives. If elected I will focus on the issues of over-development, traffic congestion, air pollution and cuts to vital services.

Lightwater, West End and Bisley – Sharon Galliford

Sharon Galliford

The are the main issues I would work on if elected to the council.

  • building a sustainable Green economy which creates local jobs
  • protecting the Green Belt and our wider countryside
  • ensuring safe, sustainable, accessible and healthy modes of transport across Surrey
  • defending our public services so that all Surrey residents have a good quality of life
  • working with honesty and transparency to the highest possible standards

I would also promote the planting of trees across the county to gain the following benefits:

  • Absorbs carbon dioxide to reduce climate change
  • Improves air quality
  • Preserves biodiversity
  • Controls flooding by minimizing runoff & topsoil loss
  • Protects habitat and wildlife
  • Provides food, fuel and jobs
